second Carlton Mid Regional Player of the Round award

Coast cricketer Kerrod White has won his second Carlton Mid Regional Player of
the Round award for the season after scoring two centuries in as many days.
Saturday (February 1), White scored 196 for the Lake Illawarra First Grade team
following day (February 2) he donned the representative cap of the South Coast
and scored 156 against Shoalhaven in the Final of the Jeffrey Cup, a Southern
December, White won his first Carlton Mid Regional Player of the Round award
for scoring 104 and taking 4-18 for Lake Illawarra against Oak Flats.
the winner of this award, White will receive a case of Carlton Mid from Carlton
Carlton Mid Regional Player of the Round award is a new initiative this summer

award is presented to the player judged by Country Cricket NSW to have produced
the most impressive performance across all of regional NSW.

Following the completion of the Country Colts Carnival held in Coffs Harbour, the Country selectors have named the following Merit Squad.
Nick De Giusti (North Coastal - Captain), Daniel Arms (Newcastle), Ben Balcomb (Newcastle - wkt), Tobyn Burvill (North Coastal), Giles Manley (Central Northern), Darren Mansfield (Southern), Bailey McGill (Newcastle), Jacob Montgomery (Newcastle), Jono Maloney (Central Northern), Oscar Oborn-Corby (Illawarra), Jayden Park (Central Northern), Ben Patterson (Western), James Psarakis (Central Northern), Nathanael Scott (North Coastal), and Caleb Ziebell (North Coastal).
These players will receive a NSW Country cap in recognition of their performances. Congratulations to all.
|North Coastal Triumph in Country Colts Final||updated February 24, 2014|
Winning Nth Coastal Colts Side
North Coastal have emerged victorious over Central Northern in the Country Colts Final played in Coffs Harbour. This is the first win in the Colts Carnival for North Coastal since season 1992/93.
Batting first, the home side batted their full compliment of 50 overs to total 9/241, led by a fine innings of 68 from skipper and NSW Under 19s representative Nick De Giusti. De Giusti was well supported by opening bat Brendan Cleaver with an equally impressive innings of 64. Will Chesterfield was the best of the Central Northern bowlers with 3-42.
In reply, Central Northern got off to a flyer with some powerful hitting from Giles Manley who was eventually dismissed for 53, however some quick wickets saw the visitors fall behind the required run rate. Leo Steyn (38) and Matt Everett (29) provided a late flurry, but to no avail as Central Northern were dismissed for 200. Alex Melville (3-42) and Luke Corlis (2-34) were the best with the ball for North Coastal.
Nick De Giusti was named Player of the Final.

The 2014 Country Boys Coaching Class has been announced. Congratulations to the following players:

The Coaching Class will be held from Friday 11th April - Sunday 13th April at Blacktown and will invlove intensive skills work, fitness and game awareness. The squad will be split into two teams after the first day and games will be played against the combined A W Green Shield sides.

|Sydney Sides Take Out Under 14 and Under 16 State Challenge Matches||updated February 11, 2014|
The Sydney sides have proven to be far too good for the Country sides in the Under 14 and Under 16 State Challenge matches played at the SCG on Sunday 9th February.
Under 14 State Challenge - Newcastle v Manly Warringah
Manly Warringah secured an easy 6 wicket win over Newcastle in the Under 14 State Challenge. Batting first, Newcastle could only manage 6-114 from their allotted 20 overs with Adam Winchester the best of the bats with 43 , with Manly Warringah's Jacob O'Sullivan snaring 4-19 from his 4 over spell. In reply, Manly Warringah cruised to victory on the 15th over Isaiah Vumbaca (34no) and Aidan Bariol (34) leading the way. Vumbaca was named Player of the Match.
Under 16 State Challenge - Nth Coastal v Bankstown
Bankstown totalled an imposing 6-189 from their 20 overs on the back of some very aggressive batting from Kayne Grove (53), Brendan Smith (46) and Ben Le Bas (26). Nth Coastal's skipper Alec Baldwin got off to a good start with a quick fire 25, before the country side lost quick wickets to find themselves at 5-56. Max Bryant (59) and Mitch Kroehnert (42) then combined for a 76 run stand in only 32 balls, but despite this, Nth Coastal finished their innings at 8-169. Brendan Smith (4-23) was the best with the ball for Bankstown and was awarded the Player of the Match for a fine all round performance.

Graeme Batty (Illawarra), Scott Burkinshaw (Central Coast) and Tom Groth (Central Northern) have been selected in the CBA Australian Country Cricket Championships Merit Team following the end of the Championships which saw NSW finish third.

|Newcastle Win Kookaburra Cup for the First Time||updated January 17, 2014|
Newcastle have won the Kookaburra Cup for the first time in a low scoring affair at No 1 Sportsground in Newcastle.
Batting first, Newcastle could only manage 157 in an innings that included 4 runs outs. Luke Hitchcock was the stand out for the local side with an unbeaten 51no while Joel Robinson led the way with the ball for Western in taking 3-19.
In reply, Western struggled against some excellent bowling from Sam O'Sullivan to be in early trouble at 6-36. Despite a solid rear guard action from Luke Powell (39no), Western were eventually dismissed for 117, with O'Sullivan and Jason Sangha taking 3 wickets a piece.
Luke Hitchcock was awarded the Player of the Final.
Newcastle now play Manly Warringah in the Under 14 State Challenge at the SCG on the 9th February.
|Nth Coastal Take Out Bradman Cup||updated January 10, 2014|
Nth Coast have pipped Southern in a gripping Bradman Cup Final played in Maitland.
Batting first, Southern slumped to be 5-56 before Chris Rajapakshe (51no) steered the Cyclones to a defendable 9-184, well supported by Matt Gilkes (25) and Lleyton Wallace (23). The best of the Nth Coast bowlers was Jacob Wood with 3-36.
In reply, Nth Coast were in dire straights at 7-86, before an aggressive innings of 58 by Max Bryant got things back on track. Young Jacob Wood (32no) carefully edged the score towards the target before Nth Coast lost their 9th wicket with the scores tied. Scott Johnson managed the winning runs with a glide to leg to the boundary to see Nth Coast take out the Bradman Cup. Bryant took out the Player of the Final award with 58 and 2-24.
Nth Coast now play the winners of the A W Green Shield Final in the Under 16 State Challenge at the SCG on the 9th February.

Ballina Skipper Steve Robb Celebrates with his Ballina Team Mates
In the Brian Gainsford Country Shield Final played at Holman Oval Cowra, Ballina have proved to be too strong for the local Cowra side. This is the first time Ballina have won the Country Shield.
Batting first, Ballina tallied an impressive 7-241 from their 50 overs on the back of an aggressive 74 by Sam Adams, well supported by James Thorpe who remained unbeaten on 41. Best with the ball for Cowra was young Jacob McNaught who took 4-44.
In reply, Cowra got off to a good start courtesy of Phil Simpson (30) and Conor Crook (27), but quickly fell behind the required run rate which saw them dismissed for 189 in the 50th over. Lee Pittavino was the pick of the Ballina bowlers with 3-33.
Sam Adams was awarded the Man of the Match award for his fine innings.

Cootamundra with the Country Plate
Cootamundra have taken out the Country Plate for the first time in a convincing win over Albion Park played at Albert Park Cootamundra. Batting first, Albion Park could only manage 132m with Jordan Villa the best of the bats with 25. Nathan Corby and Joel Pearson both picked up 3 wickets for the hosts.
In reply, Cootamundra cruised to victory in the 33rd over for the loss of only 3 wickets led by a man of the match performance of 71no from veteran John Stephens.
|Hamiton Wickham and Tamworth Qualify for SCG Country Cup Final||updated December 31, 2013|
Following the SCG Country Cup Carnival hosted by South Coast DCA on the 28th and 29th December, Hamilton Wickham and Tamworth have qualified for the Final of the SCG Country Cup to be played at the SCG on the 12th January 2014.
Hamilton Wickham have previously won the title on 4 occasions, whilst Tamworth have won the Cup 2 times.
