Newcastle have made it three in a row in a gripping McDonald's Country Championships final held at Bradman Oval in February defeating ACT Southern Districts by 2 runs.

Batting first, Newcastle could only make 151, under pressure from fiery quicks Joe Slater and Hanno Jacobs who both took 4 wickets. Aaron Wivell was the best with the bat for Newcastle scoring an undefeated 53.

In reply, ACT Southern Districts fell agonisingly short being dismissed for 149, despite some late order heroics by Ethan Fitzpatrick who finished with 42. Aidan Cahill (4/26) and Josh Bennett (3/31) were the pick of the bowlers.

Aaron Wivell was awarded the Mark Curry Medal for the player of the final.
